Roy Moore, Alabama Chief Justice, suspended for opposing same-sex marriage laws

post
Yesterday, Alabama's Chief Justice was suspended and now faces possible removal from office. Roy Moore was charged with 6 counts of ethics violations after he told probate courts in Alabama not to issue same-sex marriage licenses. As we all know, same-sex marriage is legal here in the United States, and not issuing licenses violates that Supreme Court ruling. The charges were forwarded to the Alabama Court of the Judiciary, where a hearing is to be determined.
Moore and his attorney are a part of a group called "Liberty Counsel." Recently, Roy Moore stated that he felt "transsexualism was a known mental illness."

On Friday, Moore said this: "The Judicial Inquiry Commission has chosen to listen to people like Ambrosia Starling, a professed transvestite and other gay, lesbian and bisexual individuals, as well as organizations that support their agenda. Judicial Inquiry Commission has no authority over the administrative orders of the chief justice of Alabama or the legal injunctions of the Alabama Supreme Court prohibiting probate judges from issuing same-sex marriage licenses."

Moore is still suspended and there is a document over 290 pages long discussing his charges in depth.

My Two Cents

What agenda is he talking about? The LGBT community has no agenda. All we want is to be treated as equals. Anyone who is gay, pansexual, bisexual, asexual, demisexual, lesbian, genderqueer, or transgender just want the same rights as heterosexuals. Transgender individuals do not suffer from mental illness. If anyone suffers from mental illness, it's the uptight conserva-twits who refuse to look outside their bible and participate in the real world. Not everything is black and white. There is a lot of gray.
What Roy Moore did was criminal and I hope he is removed from office. You can't defy rulings of the Supreme Court. Same-sex marriage is law, and nothing will change that. Sadly, I think anyone who agreed to deny same-sex marriage licenses should also be fired.
