Photo Credit: theroot Today, the Supreme Court struck down a law that made it very difficult for women to get an abortion in Texas. The 5-to-3 decision overturns the Texas law that has been in existence since 2013. This law required doctors to have admitting privileges at hospitals, and for facilities to mirror walk-in surgical centers. Since 2013, many clinics dropped abortion services in Texas (which means women were probably going to Mexico to get botched abortions. Hmm, when did it become 1972?). Many pro-choice activists, and pro-life activists, stood outside the Supreme Court as justices made their ruling. My Two Cents I am 100% happy with SCOTUS making this ruling. I am a pro-choice feminist and I wear the badge proudly. I am pro-choice because I know way too many women who have been sexually assaulted and raped. The man's misogyny knows no bounds. On Wednesday, GOP presidential hopeful Donald Trump gave his two cents on how he feels about abortion . While Trump was on MSNBC, he told Chris Matthews that he feels abortion should be banned. He also said that women who have abortions should be punished. Matthews asked for clarification on his feelings about banning abortion. Trump said the following: "Look, people in certain parts of the Republican Party, conservative Republicans, would say 'Yes, it should.'" Matthews pressed the topic further and Trump danced around the topic. He told Matthews that he is pro-life, and that their has to be some form of punishment for women who have abortions. My Two Cents If Trump gets elected, women will slowly lose their rights. We already know how he feels about us. He doesn't see us as being equal to men. The abortion topic is a very hot topic.
