Beloved Connecticut radio station goes off the air today
For those of you here in Connecticut, you probably grew up listening to The Rock 106.9 WCCC. It is the 'go to' station for the best in classic and modern rock. If you are on their Facebook page or if you listen to the station on your way to and from work, you have probably heard the devastating news: Today is their last day 'on the air.' The station had been owned by Marlin Broadcasting since 1998, but was recently sold to a non-profit organization that specializes in adult contemporary Christian Rock music. All the WCCC staff was "let go." Yep. Christian Rock. The station that single-handedly launched Howard Stern's career is going to be playing Church music. Correct me if I'm wrong, isn't it unholy to 'let go' of an awesome staff with such little notice? How can this non-profit organization sleep at night knowing that these people will be out of a job?
