#WomensMarch makes HERstory over the weekend.

Image
Photo Credit: nydailynews Immediately following the inauguration of Donald Trump, women all over the country planned to march for women's rights. Donald Trump is well-known for his disdain toward women (he has said time and time again that he wants to repeal Roe VS Wade, and his followers want him to take away a woman's right to vote), and in protest of his presidency, women and men marched on Saturday. The Women's March ended up being the largest one-day protest in US History, smashing records set by the Martin Luther King Jr. "I have a dream" speech, Anti-Nuclear March in NYC, and the Iraq War protests. When all was said and done, it is estimated that over 3.1 million women and men marched for women's rights. Many celebrities joined in on the protest, including Ashley Judd, Connie Briton, Miley Cyrus, and Madonna. Madonna made news with her colorful speech at one protest rally. She ended up getting a lot of flack for saying that someone should blo

After Trump's inauguration, Civil Rights and LGBT pages on whitehouse.gov go missing.

Photo Credit: dailysabah Within hours of Trump taking oath of office, key pages on the Whitehouse's website went missing. In Trump's inaugural address, he vowed to work for all Americans. Sadly, if you are LGBT or a person of color, this doesn't include you. Trump went into the whitehouse.gov website and immediately removed pages from the issues section. These pages included: -LGBT -Civil Rights -Healthcare -Climate Change Various media outlets posted the results they got when they went to visit the above pages. The Daily Beast posted this screenshot of what used to be the LGBT page: This is a screenshot of what used to be the Civil Rights page: When you searched for "healthcare" under the Issues section, this is the result The Daily Beast got: In place of the Civil Rights page, Trump posted a page that supports racist law enforcement. He also posted on the page that inner cities should be known as "crime-ridden," and that b

In lieu of the inauguration, watch this episode of Buffy The Vampire Slayer..

Photo Credit: tvtropes A few weeks ago, I came up with the perfect analogy for Trump's inauguration. Those that know me well know that I am a die hard fan of the show, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. In season 3 of the show, we watched as Buffy entered her senior year of high school. We also watched the addition of a new and unhinged slayer, Faith. We also saw the rise of the season's Big Bad: the mayor. The mayor, who looked "good" on paper, was a being that could not be killed. His sole purpose was to unleash hell. He planned to ascend on graduation day. Buffy and her friends fought an epic battle against the mayor/demon and came out victorious. My analogy has to do with Donald Trump and the mayor. Donald Trump is irrational, unpredictable, and while he may promise one thing, he will ultimately do another. To republicans, democrats, and all who fall in between, he is dangerous. I feel that his presidency will unleash hell on earth. Today, this being ascends to the

Herbs that can help with anxiety

Image
Millions of men and women across the world suffer from panic disorder or anxiety. For those who do not have access to health insurance, treating this disorder can be very tricky. Many have gone the natural route to treat generalized anxiety, and when paired with relaxing activities, the treatment can be effective. Below are a few herbs that can help calm anxiety: -Passionflower -Chamomile -Kava -Lemon Balm* -Lavender* Talk to your doctor before you begin a natural health regimen. My Two Cents With healthcare being so tricky, I have started looking into the all-natural route. I even invested in an Aerogarden so I can grow my own herbs and food. I have Lemon Balm and Lavender growing as we speak. I plan on brewing both as a tea in my Keurig and will be documenting my experience with these herbs. Below, I have included photos of my Lavender and Lemon Balm plants. I planted everything on December 28th. When it comes to treating emotional and mental issues, all

Meryl Streep brilliantly shades Donald Trump at the Golden Globes.

Photo Credit: todayshow Last night, Meryl Streep received the Lifetime Achievement award at the Golden Globes. The 67-year-old stood strong in front of her peers and brilliantly shaded president-elect Donald Trump. Streep brought up the moment when Trump mocked a disabled reporter, and she also brought up how Trump wants to deport people who have not been born here. She said that if Trump deported everyone that he didn't want in this country, Hollywood would cease to exist. All that would be left for entertainment is football and MMA. Watch the speech below: Monday morning, Donald Trump went on Twitter and threw a temper tantrum at Meryl Streep's words. "Meryl Streep, one of the most over-rated actresses in Hollywood, doesn't know me but attacked last night at the Golden Globes. She is a Hillary flunky who lost big. For the 100th time, I never 'mocked' a disabled reporter (would never do that) but simply showed him 'groveling' when he tot

'Boy Meets World' spinoff 'Girl Meets World' canceled after 3 seasons.

If you were hoping that 'Girl Meets World' was going to return for a 4th season, yesterday you were met with disappointment. Writers for the show posted a series of tweets, confirming the abrupt ending to the widely popular Disney show: "It is with incredible pride in our work and complete sadness that things end, that I report to this wonderful audience that our show is over. I just officially got the call, and would like to thank this audience for its incredible love and loyalty. Please watch our January episodes. We leave with you three incredible souvenirs of a show we couldn't be more proud of. As I look back I can tell you with absolute certainty - We gave you our best." Fans of the original series and GMW were saddened by the ending of the show. The cancelation, however, was not a complete shock. Disney shows rarely go past a 3rd or 4th season. Stars of the show expressed gratitude to the fans for their dedication. Rowan Blanchard, who played Riley M

Mariah Carey's NYE performance is the 'talk of the town,' and not in a good way.

Photo Credit: theweekdotin Before I start, I want to wish all of you a joyous new year. May 2017 be scores better than 2016. Now, onto last night's trending topic : Mariah Carey. Mariah Carey has been in the business for almost 30 years. She has banged out hit after hit after hit. So, she should be able to handle any flubs that come her way, right? Last night, Mariah Carey started her performance with 'Auld Lang Syne.' Shortly after breaking into the song, the sound system malfunctioned. A "visibly defeated" Mariah Carey strutted her stuff back and forth on the stage, and allowed her backup dancers to perform acrobatic routines. It provided some distraction while Carey tried to figure out what to do next. Carey then said loudly that she will let the audience sing. She then said:  "I'm trying to be a good sport." Audio of her voice then continued with the song, but the mic popped on as soon as Carey said "That was--I'm leaving.&quo
