Mississippi governor signs bill allowing LGBT discrimination.

wtf
The new law, which was signed by governor Phil Bryant on Tuesday, allows those with religious beliefs to deny services to same-sex couples. The bill also states that employers have the right to change workplace policies on employee dress codes, grooming, and bathroom/locker room access.
The Republican governor signed the anti-lgbt law in order to "protect sincerely held religious beliefs and moral individuals, organizations and private associations from discriminatory action by state government."

The ACLU commented on the anti-LGBT bill, saying:
"This is a sad day for the state of Mississippi and for the thousands of Mississippians who can now be turned away from businesses, refused marriage licenses, or denied housing, essential services and needed care, based on who they are.

Additionally, the bill allows for discrimination against single mothers, and anyone that may offend a religious person or business (there is a rumor that the law targets those who engage in premarital sex. What year are we living in?!).
Also, the bill heavily targets the transgender community. The bill will only recognize the gender that one was biologically born with, not a gender identity. Oh, and don't go to this state if you're a divorcee. Mississippi frowns upon that.

The anti-LGBT law is set to take effect this summer.

My Two Cents

This truly is a sad day for the LGBT community, and for single mothers. I hate what this world is turning into. What's next? Are we going to be sentenced to death for loving differently than heterosexuals?
How can these anti-LGBT laws be legal in this country?

I am hoping and praying that a miracle happens and these laws are repealed. It isn't fair to us. All we want to do is live our truth. The religious right needs to mind their business and shut up for once!

I expect travel bans to Mississippi to be implemented, hopefully. I've read about what this law entails, and it is worse than North Carolina's anti-LGBT law. I encourage those in Mississippi to stand up and call for a repeal to this law. This law is bullsh*t and needs to be obliterated.
