Doomsday clock to stay at three minutes to midnight.

doomsdayclock
Members of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists announced earlier today that the infamous doomsday clock will stay at three minutes to midnight. The Doomsday Clock has long been a metaphor for the end of the world.
Last year, the clock was set at 11:57pm, which is the closest the clock has been to midnight since the 1980s.

Scientists have several reasons as to why the clock is staying at 11:57pm. They cited the tension between the United States and Russia. They also considered North Korea and their interests in testing nuclear weapons. Global warming was also mentioned as a major reason. NASA recently stated that 2015 was the warmest year on record.

While maintaining the same time as last year may seem like good news, scientists at the Bulletin stated that the stance is not good news. The Bulletin stated that in order to move the clock backward, spending on nuclear weapons programs would have to be substantially reduced. Countries would need to work together on nuclear disarmament. In order for that to happen, the US would need to open dialogue with North Korea, Russia, and China.

My Two Cents:

I'm actually not shocked by any of this. Global warming has been a huge topic of discussion due to weather changes. Also, the increased chatter of nuclear weapons being tested in countries the US is not on good terms with is also somewhat alarming.

A miracle would have to happen in order for the clock to move backward. I hope it can go backward in my lifetime. This is our only world, and we only have one life. Why can't we just work together in unity? Why can't we live more green so our planet can survive?
