Vanessa Williams reveals she was molested as a child

In serious news, singer/actress Vanessa Williams revealed that she was molested at age 10 by an older teen, an 18 year old female.
Williams told Oprah what had taken place, and the experience she went through is absolutely heart-breaking. Williams said that the 18 year old had come into her room, took off Williams' bottoms off, told her to be quiet, and the 18 year old 'went down' on her. 10 year old Williams knew that this was something that wasn't supposed to be happening, and she wasn't sure what to do about it after the incident took place. She wanted to tell her family, but a death in the family had made her suppress what had happened to her.

Williams believes that the molestation had made her sexually curious at a much younger age, and it may have caused her to become promiscuous.

Despite the taboo nature of this molestation, it, unfortunately, isn't uncommon. On Jezebel, many young women, including myself, shared stories of assault and molestation.
