Why it's NOT OKAY to shame Meg Ryan's appearance.

During these movies, she was deemed "America's sweetheart."
While it has been some time since she has been in a major blockbuster, people have still found a way to keep her name in their mouths, and not in a good way.
On Sunday's Tony Awards Show, Meg Ryan introduced the cast of Broadway play "She Loves Me," a production that inspired her 1998 film "You've Got Mail." Anyways, shortly after presenting the cast, social media stirred up controversy surrounding her appearance. Some even speculated that she had plastic surgery.
The tweets from Twitter trolls were incredibly cruel. One woman said that she was fervently moisturizing her neck so it doesn't turn out like Meg Ryan's. One man said that he was "old enough to remember when Meg Ryan looked like Meg Ryan."
Does Meg Ryan look different? Yeah, she does, but not because of plastic surgery. She looks differently because she is older than she was when she was in "You've Got Mail," and "Kate & Leopold." "You've Got Mail" came out 18 years ago. Do any of us look like we used to 18 years ago? I sure as hell don't, and I'm proud of that.
Meg Ryan is a woman who has embraced her years, and if she did have plastic surgery, it isn't for any of us to judge.
Meg Ryan is happy and confident in who she is. The fact that people are judging her appearance shows how sad and shameful our society has become.
I will leave you with these words that Meg Ryan said a few years back about aging:
"I love my age. I love my life right now. I love the person I’ve become, the one I’ve evolved into."
I want to be Meg Ryan when I grow up!
