#RepealThe19th becomes one of the most trending topics of the election.

Image
This election has become historical for many reasons. We have our first female presidential candidate for a major party, and we have a television personality with no experience in politics running for the Republican party. No other election has raised this much uproar than this one. One topic that has started trending recently is a woman's right to vote. Women were given the right to vote in 1920. The women behind the 19th Amendment fought hard so we could vote. Everything from picketing to hunger strikes, to being arrested, they did it all to show that we deserve equal rights. Here we are in 2016, 96 years later, and our right to vote is being threatened. We all know that Donald Trump bleeds racism and misogyny. Well, so do his voters, and they are demanding that he repeals the 19th Amendment if he wins the election. Roe VS Wade is also on the agenda of laws that he wants to repeal. The women at the forefront of the 19th Amendment must be rolling around in their graves at th...

Supreme Court strikes down Texas abortion restrictions.

Image
Photo Credit: theroot Today, the Supreme Court struck down a law that made it very difficult for women to get an abortion in Texas. The 5-to-3 decision overturns the Texas law that has been in existence since 2013. This law required doctors to have admitting privileges at hospitals, and for facilities to mirror walk-in surgical centers. Since 2013, many clinics dropped abortion services in Texas (which means women were probably going to Mexico to get botched abortions. Hmm, when did it become 1972?). Many pro-choice activists, and pro-life activists, stood outside the Supreme Court as justices made their ruling. My Two Cents I am 100% happy with SCOTUS making this ruling. I am a pro-choice feminist and I wear the badge proudly. I am pro-choice because I know way too many women who have been sexually assaulted and raped. Unfortunately, some woman who are raped get pregnant. These women should have that option to abort the pregnancy, especially since it came out of such a h...

Germaine Greer calls fans' acceptance of Caitlyn Jenner "misogynistic."

Image
Germaine Greer is an outspoken and respected feminist. She is someone who had done a great deal of work for women during the 2nd wave of feminism. While she is still down for us ladies, there is one lady she is not down with: Caitlyn Jenner. Jenner, who was born Bruce Jenner, made major headlines when she came out as transgender. She began her transition and went public with her new look over this past summer. Jenner has become (somewhat) a spokeswoman for the transgender community since coming out. Greer believes that the acceptance that Jenner has gained this year is a prime example of misogyny: "I think misogyny plays a really big part in all of this, that a man who goes to these lengths to become a woman will be a better woman than someone who is just born a woman.” Greer also believes that Caitlyn is only doing all of this in order to steal the spotlight from her famous family. It is important to note that Caitlyn Jenner began taking hormone treatments in the...

I (ME) Wed: Women who marry themselves (Empowering or weird?)

Image
photo credit: lagranciudad I don't know about you, but I have been noticing a rise in women who have been marrying themselves. Women go through the normal marriage routine. Only difference is, they are promising to love, honor, and obey: themselves. Yasmin Eleby of Texas did just that after her 40th birthday. Eleby pledged that if she hadn't gotten married by the time she turned 40, she would marry herself. She got married on January 3, at the Houston Museum of African American Culture. She had 10 bridesmaids and a large cake. Her sister, who happens to be a minister, officiated the ceremony. For those of you who were wondering, self-marriage is not legal in the US. Still, Yasmin Eleby wanted to commit to her happiness, which is something I find extremely empowering. photo credit: blacksportsonline My Two Cents: I find it absolutely beautiful when a woman vows to be happy with herself. There are so many negative messages in this world, and so many r...

Fox and Friends on how to land a husband (circa 1955).

Image
photo credit: Jezebel Fox is at it again ladies, giving us women advice on how to land (and keep) a husband (since all we are good for is being a man's slave). On a recent Fox and Friends, a book called: "Single Man, Married Man" was showcased. The book attempts to help women keep their man's interest, since it takes a lot to "hold a man's attention" (I'm pretty sure breasts do a good job at keeping a man interested). Anyways, the folks over at Fox decided to read a few of the recommendations on how to "float your guy's boat:" 1. "No matter where a woman is in her life, she should always be able to cater to her man's needs." Oh absolutely! Because all we are good for is catering to an overgrown man-child's needs. It's not like any of us work, have kids, have health problems and or responsibility. "Oh you want me to drop our 2 month old so I can get you a beer and slippers? Sure!" *rolls eyes* ...

'Princeton Mom' says that getting raped while drunk is a "learning experience."

Image
photo credit: Raw Story Yup, Princeton bitch is back, and this time, she is hitting 'below the belt.' Just when you thought Princeton Mom couldn't stoop any lower, she proves us wrong. Princeton Mom, aka Susan Patton was on CNN the other day and she stated that the modern definition of rape was meaningless, and she does not understand why women in that situation can't just get up and leave. Also, she said that women who have been raped probably use the term to cover up a clumsy hook-up or a regrettable sexual experience. She called rape a "learning experience." The host of the show, a domestic abuse survivor spoke her mind to Patton. The host concluded her schpeel, saying that she will never contact Patton for support if, God forbid, she gets abused in the future. Patton, on the other hand, said that the host needs to exercise self-control and to have better judgement next time. My Two Cents: Here's what I don't get. A woman, who sup...

World famous lawyer Amal Alamuddin marries American actor

Image
photo credit: Buisinesswoman Thirty-six year old British barrister Amal Alamuddin tied the knot with American actor George Clooney over the weekend. It was an intimate ceremony that took place at the Aman Canal Grande located in Venice, Italy. Celebrities, such as Matt Damon and John Krasinski were in attendance. The relationship between Alamuddin and Clooney has been relatively low-key. Clooney shared the news of his wedding while at a charity benefit in Tuscany, Italy, saying: "I would just like to say to my bride-to-be, Amal, that I love you very much and I can't wait to be your husband." Alamuddin has represented many high profile criminals, the most famous of which is WikiLeaks narc, Julian Assange. Meanwhile, folks here in the United States have been waiting for Clooney to get married at some point. He had stated many years ago that he would never get married or have children. Well, I guess it takes the right woman to change any man's mind! You might be w...

Washington State megachurch pastor refers to women as "penis homes."

Image
photo credit: trektrebek In one of the most twisted forms of misogyny that I've ever heard of, a Washington state megachurch founder closed several branches of his megachurch after it was revealed that he once referred to women as "penis homes." Pastor (and disgusting misogynist) Mark Driscoll was asked to resign by members of the Church when it was discovered that he said the following comments about women in 2001. He made the comments under the pseudo name, William Wallace II: "Ultimately, God created you and it is his penis. You are simply borrowing it for a while. Knowing that His penis would need a home, God created a woman to be your wife and when you marry her and look down you will notice that your wife is shaped differently than you and makes a very nice home. Therefore, if you are single you must remember that your penis is homeless and needs a home. But, though you may believe your hand is shaped like a home, it is not… And, if you look at a m...

Phyllis Schlafy believes that women can avoid being raped by focusing on marriage, and not their careers.

Image
photo credit: stillettosandapen Well, it looks like Schlafy and "Princeton Mom" share the same lack of a brain. According to Schlafy, we women can avoid being raped if we just stop focusing on careers, education, "hooking up," etc., and instead focus on marriage. Apparently, WE have the ability to stop men from being the animals that they are (Schlafy stated that men are "inherent rapists" and they cannot control themselves. It is up to us women to tame them). She also said that some married men may still rape. When asked to clarify what she meant by this, she did not provide an answer. (Big surprise! We all know that these conservative twatwaffles cannot back up their claims because they know deep down that they are wrong and worthless piles of shit). She contradicted herself many times in her statement. While she said that some married men still rape and abuse women, she also said that marriage "settles men down." Huh! Last I checked...

Why we should continue to love Joseph Gordon-Levitt..

Image
photo credit: paulavspatriarchy If you're a thirty-something like me, you probably grew up crushing on Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the 1990s. He spent the majority of the 1990s on "3rd Rock From the Sun," and he was in "10 Things I Hate About You." He was hot! (And he still is) Well, there is one more thing that we can love about Gordon-Levitt: He's a feminist! With so many celebrities condemning the f-word (and giving the feminist movement a bad name), we have one of Hollywood's biggest heartthrobs loudly and proudly wearing the feminist label (and explaining what feminism means to him). In January, Joseph Gordon-Levitt spoke to Ellen Degeneres and he expressed his concern about people's refusal to identify as 'feminists.' Gordon-Levitt has already publicly claimed the label and he he expressed to Ellen why he calls himself a 'male feminist:' "What [feminism] means to me is that you don’t let your gender define who ...

Twerking Grandma just stole my heart!

Image
Yesterday, Queen Bee of the internet, Jezebel , posted a story about an elderly woman who is now being called "Twerking Grandma." She is a woman who is shakin' what her momma gave her on top of a red car. She has pulled up her flowing black dress, exposing her red underwear (which happens to match the car), and doing a better job at twerking than Miley Cyrus. Vine member, Brittany Lynn Turner was the woman who shared this video with the world, which has gone viral and captivated the world. As of right now, the video has been shared over 350,000 times! When I first saw this short video, I was a little shocked. Then I found myself cheering her on! Turner has two more videos of her. One where she is dancing in the house, wearing a red dress. And another driving a motor cart through a grocery store. I know some of you are going to be thinking, "Oh my God, Shauna, why the fuck are you posting this shit? I don't want to see some old lady twerking!" ...
