GOP congressional candidate Mike Webb posts screenshot with porn sites to Facebook.

Image
Photo Credit: NYDailyNews In this week's edition of 'check your screen before you screenshot it,' we have super-religious GOP congressional candidate Mike Webb, who posted a screenshot to Facebook that raised a few eyebrows. In the screenshot was a Yahoo search page and a bunch of open tabs. The first two tabs in the photo caused quite a stir with people: "LAYLA RIVERA TIGHT BOOTY" and "IVONE SEXY AMATEUR." Photo Credit: DailyKos After receiving several messages about the screenshot, Webb made a follow-up post on Facebook, saying: " Curious by nature, I wanted to test the suggestion that somehow, lurking out in the pornographic world there is some evil operator waiting for the one in a gazillion chance that a candidate for federal office would go to that particular website and thereby be infected with a virus that would cause his or her FEC data file to crash the FECfile application each time that it was loaded on the day of the fili...

How to "Unfollow" a friend on Facebook without "Unfriending" them.

Image
All of us have at least one person on our Facebook friends list that does the following: -Revealing too much information about their life. -Constantly complaining about everything. -Posting too many memes. -Talking crap about an acquaintance/family member. It can be rather tiresome to come onto Facebook and see the drama spewing forth from their end of the internet. While you do not want to be rude and delete the person, you also do not want to get stuck seeing their business everyday. So, what is a person to do? I found, by accident, that you can "unfollow" a person without "unfriending" them. By "unfollowing" a person, you will only see the information that they share publicly (it will have the world symbol next to the time the submitted their post). To "unfollow" a person, simply go to the person's profile and click "following (the button is located on the cover photo)." You will see a drop down menu. Choose...

Facebook is developing a feature to help you get over your ex.

Image
The ending of a relationship is always difficult, and with social media sites like Facebook, the grieving process may be prolonged. The folks over at Facebook want to make this process easier on you. They developed a feature that gives you the option to remove your ex from your newsfeed. After removing your ex from your newsfeed, you will also be given the option to remove yourself from their newsfeed. With this feature, neither one of you will be able to check up on one another. So, if you go on a date with a dude, your ex will have no knowledge of it. Facebook believes that this will improve the functionality of the site and make it a less dramatic place for all. My Two Cents: So, deleting and blocking your ex is too easy of a process for people? Shortly after my previous relationship ended, I deleted and blocked my ex. I did that after realizing how controlling the relationship was (I was in outpatient treatment therapy when I realized all of this). I didn't want to ...

Police: "Do not call us if Facebook is down for the count!"

Those of you who tried to check Facebook on your lunch hour were probably greeted with this message: Apparently, some Facebook users were so broken up by the message, that they called 911 to report this "crime against humanity." Officers in Los Angeles County, California took to Twitter and made this statement: Facebook reps posted a statement saying that they were working on the issue and would update users "shortly." The site was up and running one hour later. Now , I love Facebook as much as the next person, but calling the cops to report an outage is just plain stupid. It is not that serious. Find something to do for Christ's sake! Go on Twitter, read a book, talk to someone face-to-face, call a family member, use your imagination! This is what I did during the Facebook outage: I ate lunch, read a few articles, did some writing, and got some fresh air. Did you guys know that there's a world outside those windows? Oh my fucking God it is so b...

Facebook Page 530 Fatties: Body-Shaming at its worst

Image
Pretty much everyone has a Facebook these days. You, your siblings, your friends, spouse, significant other, cousin, parent, grandparent, pet, etc. You share pictures and status updates. You can 'like' pages, like and comment on funny memes, and share them with your friends. It's all pretty innocent, right? Well, not exactly. There are some pages that are on Facebook that are just like the "burn book" from "Mean Girls," except, it bashes those who are overweight. The 530 Fatties page was recently in the news after a young woman in Sacramento, CA found an old picture of herself on the page. The picture was from when she was 50 pounds heavier and the pigs who were members of the page were making fun of her. See, what the assholes of the page do is that they go around taking pictures of anyone in the Sacramento area they feel is overweight/obese, put it on their page, and flame them. What 18 year old Jessi Lynn Howell did is call them out on it. Ho...
