800 pound man kicked out of hospital for ordering a pizza.
Thirty-three year old Steven Assanti was staying at Rhode Island Hospital in order to lose enough weight to have the gastric bypass surgery. Unfortunately, the hospital kicked him out after he decided to order a pizza. Now Assanti has nowhere to go. On Tuesday, he was moved to Kent County Hospital until he could find a permanent place to stay. My Two Cents: I cannot feel sorry for this man because if he really wanted to lose weight, he would have stayed on the weight loss plan that Rhode Island Hospital implemented for his care. He screwed himself with this one. I battle mental illness, alcohol dependency, and a food addiction. I have plans in place for me so I can live a healthy and productive life. I adhere to these plans because I want better for my life. Is it hard? Abso-f*cking-lutely. Does Mr. Assanti have any idea how lucky he was to even get the help he got for 80-some odd days at RI Hospital? There are thousands of people who would kill for that opportunity. With addict...
