Today marks what would have been grunge rocker Kurt Cobain's 49th birthday. Kurt Cobain pretty much owned the first half of the 1990s when he and his band Nirvana dominated the music industry. Nirvana actually formed in 1986, and put out their first CD, "Bleach" in 1989, under an independent label called Sub-Pop records. They gained popularity overseas, and in 1991, they signed with Geffen records. "Nevermind," Nirvana's masterpiece, was released shortly after. This record put this band on the map and made them one of the most iconic bands in history. The instant popularity did start to take its toll on Kurt Cobain. In 1992, Cobain married Hole front woman, Courtney Love, and they had a daughter together, Frances Bean Cobain.
