She's baack!

On Thursday, the U.S. Supreme Court slammed Abigail Fisher's claims that she was denied entry to the University of Texas because she is white.
In 2008, Abigail Fisher sued the university because she was "denied admission to the institution based on affirmative action policies that violated the Constitution's equal protection act." When Fisher applied to the school, she applied during a very competitive year. Even though she had a strong GPA and a modest SAT score, she didn't place in the top 10% of her high school graduating class. A good amount of other applicants had much better grades than Fisher.

While many young men and women would have gotten over the rejection and moved on to their next choice, Abigail Fisher decided to sue. (Note: when I was applying to colleges in 2000 and 2001, I didn't get into my first choice. Did I sue? No. I chose from the 4 schools that I DID get into, and I picked a really good school (Teikyo Post University, class of 2005).

This isn't Abigail Fisher's first rodeo of filing grievances. Outlined below are some of her most absurd complaints:

1. Abby takes on her middle school basketball team.
When Abigail Fisher was a wee lass, she tried out for her school's basketball team. Unfortunately, she didn't make the cut. She decided to sue. She states that she didn't make it because she was short, couldn't jump high, and didn't have adequate hand-eye coordination. She also said that those who made it are from underprivileged areas, and weren't afforded the luxury of an Olympic-sized swimming pool like she was. She called her pool a "distraction."

2. Abby takes on her ex.
We've all been there: We've been dumped by someone and we were left broken-hearted. Abby decided to take her grief to a new level. She wrote a letter calling her ex's new girlfriend a tramp. She also said that "just because she is one of the smartest girls at school and always has a pleasant demeanor means nothing, because she is a loser."
Fisher then called out the time when her ex arrived with a regular-sized limo and not the stretch Hummer limo.

3. Abby takes on her former job.
Abby started working at a law firm as a secretary. Her performance review stated that she wasn't consistent in her work. That didn't stop Abby from nominating herself for Employee of the Year. A week before the performance review, Abby decided to apply for Senior Partner at the firm. Abby did not take the bar exam to become a lawyer, and she didn't have a law degree. She still filed a complaint form for discrimination.

There are many more incidences like the ones outlined above. Those are just my favorite LOL!

Anyhow, #BeckyWithTheBadGrades began trending after the Supreme Court made their ruling. Abigail Fisher may be trying to use her white, upper middle class, privilege to screw the system, but it isn't going to work.
Maybe try working for what you want, Abby! Millions of people work hard everyday for what they have.
If you're entitled, you shouldn't complain.

Check your privilege, honey.
