Goopers! Gwyneth Paltrow indulges in a fancy dinner during 'Food Bank Challenge' week!

Oh Gwyneth...you never cease to amaze me.

Ms. Paltrow decided to break her food stamp challenge and indulge in an $80 fancy dinner with celebrity friend, PCU's Jon Favreau.

Recently, Gwynnie took on the Food Stamp challenge by aiming to live on $29 a week. She even shared a photo of what she would buy with her food stamps (including 7 limes).

I guess it was too much for her to deal with, so she decided to make a mockery of the SNAP program and go back to her multi-million dollar lifestyle. Little did she know that nothing a celebrity ever does is on the down-low. Mr. Favreau shared a photo of the two of them while in attendence at the Austin Midnight Dinner.

My Two Cents:

Deep down, I had a feeling that she was only doing the SNAP challenge symbolically. I knew she wasn't serious about raising awareness about the Food Stamp cuts that are ruining the lives of many low-income families across this great land of ours.

You cannot take the Gooper out of her illustrious surroundings, no matter how good the cause is.
For a woman who wants to push healthier lifestyles, she is showing that she has an addiction to living the lifestyle of the rich and famous.

I hope to god she never finds herself impoverished and having to rely on government assistance.
While I don't get food stamps, a lot of people I know get them. They struggle with, not only the minimal amount of assistance the state provides, but also the social stigma of being on government assistance.
What Gwyneth is showing, is what many right-wingers have been saying for years: "The SNAP program is a joke and needs to be overturned." Ms. Paltrow is fueling the social stigma fire that those on food stamps live a "life of luxury."

When you add in the small amounts of assistance low-income individuals get, and the social isolation, the quality of life is pretty terrible. When morons like Gwyneth Paltrow make a mockery of the program, it just makes life all that worse.

Well done, Ms. Paltrow. Not only have you shown yourself to be a f*cking hypocrite, you have also shamed the millions of individuals who rely on SNAP to feed their families.
Go f*ck yourself.
