Breaking: "The Fosters" to end after 5 seasons.

I regret to inform you of this, but hit show "The Fosters" will end after 5 seasons.
The second half of season 5 will premiere on January 9, with 10 episodes. This summer, the show will conclude with a 3-night limited series event.

But don't despair, 'Foster' fans. A spin-off has been ordered, and it will follow Callie and Mariana as they make their way into adulthood. The spinoff has been approved for 13 episodes.

The Fosters has been a groundbreaking show for not only Freeform, but for prime time TV in itself. The show followed a same sex couple and their adopted children through various storylines. The show also featured the youngest ever same-sex kiss, which was shared by characters Jude and Connor a few years ago.
The show has had its share of controversy, but has proven to be a big hit, and has stood the test of time.

While it's sad to say goodbye to 'The Fosters,' we can continue following two of the most popular characters as they transition out of high school and into adulthood.

Don't forget to tune into the second half of season 5 on January 9 on Freeform.
