Breaking: Charlie Sheen to announce that he is HIV-Positive.

Charlie Sheen is expected to announce on the Today Show that he is HIV-Positive. According to Hollywood publicist Howard Bragman, Sheen has been receiving treatment for the auto-immune disease for quite some time:
"It's been going on for quite awhile. He's not necessarily comfortable talking about it. It was very hard to get up the courage for him to talk about it. I feel very sorry for his pain. And I hope it's used as a teachable moment for the world. This is a disease that can affect anyone."

Charlie Sheen has been in and out of the press for several years. His struggle with substance abuse is well documented, along with his solicitation of prostitutes.

The announcement will air on Tuesday morning on the Today show.

My Two Cents:

HIV is a disease that has caused extreme devastation to anyone involved. While it is not always transmitted sexually, it can be contracted through shared needles and blood injections.
While I could make a joke at Mr. Sheen's expense, the human in me feels somewhat bad for him. One could say that he brought it on himself, but sometimes it takes something unfortunate, such as this, in order to change one's life around.

I hope the best for this guy, and this could be a great opportunity for Mr. Sheen to raise awareness about this disease.
