Why "Game of Thrones" Nudity Doesn't Bother Me (Warning: Graphic Content)

One would think that all nudity would be bothersome to this feminist: the exploitation of the female body, the ogling of men, what male viewers are thinking and doing (masturbation) as they are looking at the naked female on the screen.
Well, it isn't!
To be honest, we women would be having the same type of desires if it were naked men on the screen. We would be, like: "Oh, look at that guy's sexy ass", or, "look at the size of that guy's cock!"
It works both ways! Don't lie, ladies. I'll admit it, I've taken a second glance at Mel Gibson's ass in "Forever Young!" ;-)

Anyways, I digress. Back to the subject at hand.
One thing that aggravates me about big screen movie nudity, is that they have the actresses drop weight and get into serious shape in order to look "perfect" naked. They end up looking like a dream. A fantasy, if you will.
The one thing that I respect about "Game of Thrones" is that the women that are nude are natural women, who haven't starved themselves, and haven't gone through rigorous exercise regimens. They are average shapes and forms. Female viewers can looks at the bodies and not feel self-conscious while watching with their boyfriends or husbands. You have your naturally super skinny women, your naturally athletic built women, and your curvy women. You have women with small breasts, average breasts, and large breasts, most of which are all natural.

Of course they are trying to be as true to the time period as possible, but, you have a lot of time period shows that do not do that. They cast females who look like Victoria Secret models, and don't fit what the average woman looked like in those days.
"Game of Thrones" does an amazing job with casting women who look the part, and can also act beautifully.

On the flip side, it is hard for me to watch the rape scenes, but, from a historical standpoint, it is something that needs to be watched. Rape has been around since forever, unfortunately, and we still live in a rape culture. It's a sick and unfortunate reality. It won't go away just by sweeping it under the carpet. This show, in no way, condones rape. It shows rape, in its truest and rawest form. It shows that it DID happen, but, it shows that women have been known to fight back. I think some feminists forget that part. Women have fought back from time to time.
