What is "Glamping?"

On last night's "Hell's Kitchen," a new term came into my life: "glamping." Glamping is a light-weight form of camping. Glamping consists of folks "roughing it" in designer tents, with similar amenities, such as those in hotel rooms. I'm talking high class lamps, appliances, climate control, electrical power, and more. The glamping experience does consist of your normal camping excursions, but it is tailored to those who don't like the idea of roughing it with the bugs and wildlife.

I can see some of the elite and more materialistic folks in this world taking advantage of glamping, but, I'm sorry, glamping is NOT camping. It's pretty much a 5 star hotel outdoors. ACTUAL camping consists of tents, bugs, wildlife, no climate control, and no electricity. Camping is all about being close to nature. It's about experiencing all of nature's beauty.
When I was a kid, I did a lot of camping. I spent my childhood years going to day camps and overnight camps. At the day camps, they had "overnights." We set up our own tents, cooked our food on a campfire, played games in the woods at night, battled the elements, etc. I remember one night, there was a thunderstorm and it was pouring hard. I bundled my ass up and put my raincoat over me. Was I cold? Abso-fucking-lutely! Was I miserable when I woke up that following morning? Fuck yeah! However, I still enjoyed my time.

In my opinion, glamping is a fucking joke. Actual camping is not that bad. Yes there are bugs, yes there are creepy crawlies. It is just something you have to deal with. If you can't deal with it, don't go camping. If you can't handle being without your make up, cell phone, TV shows, don't go camping. Don't call "outside hotels" camping. You might as well just get a presidential suite at the Ritz Carlton and watch "Troop Beverly Hills."

In conclusion, would I even consider going glamping? Never. I like being outdoors in a tent and cooking my food on a campfire. I don't need any of that materialistic shit.

Readers, would you ever go glamping?
