A mother in Alabama is warning other mothers about posting photos of their children online. Jenny Smith's 3-year-old son was the victim of a very cruel meme that made fun of his special needs.
Smith wants to use what happened to her son to help other mothers, especially mothers of children with special needs:

"My husband and I are trying to use it as a positive example. No. 1, to let other families know that it can happen to them and, No. 2, try to educate people of children with special needs and that terminally ill children are not to be used for a gag or a laugh. This is someone's child and personal photo and not to be made into a joke."

Grayson was born with 22 birth abnormalities. He has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy and epilepsy. The meme mainly targeted a terminal health condition where his brain protrudes out of his skull. He has had 24 brain and head surgeries in order to improve his quality of life.
Despite Grayson's health issues, Jenny Smith says that he is "full of life."

"He is funny and sarcastic, very bossy. He does not act like he has a disability at all. Physically, he's not able to walk or crawl, but he's smart. He goes to pre-K. He's very involved in his class, especially with the girls. He's very loving. He'll tell me, 'I love you,' and give me a bear hug, and he's very attached to his daddy."

The meme went viral last month. Over 15,000 of her Facebook followers alerted her about the meme.

My Two Cents

When I heard about this, I wanted to go off on everyone who had a part in the meme. There is a special place in hell for people who mock children and adults suffering from disabilities. From what I've read about this young boy, he has more class and maturity than most of the adults in this world. He doesn't let his health situation get the best of him. He's 3-years-old and fighting a battle none of us will ever comprehend.

Grayson is a fighter, and we should all learn from his example.

Do your thing, Grayson! You rock!
