Can you use your smartphone to view the upcoming Eclipse?

The "once in a lifetime" solar eclipse is just around the corner, and just about every retailer is sold out of the eclipse glasses. Does that mean that you won't be able to partake in this phenomenon? Nope!
Just like there's an app for everything in life, there is an app for safely viewing the Eclipse on August 21.

Space.com has compiled a list of apps that you can use to view the total solar eclipse:

Paid apps: SkySafari 5, Star Walk 2, and Stellarium
FREE apps: Eclipse Safari (for iOS and Android).

The above apps are the best that you can find for viewing the Great American Solar Eclipse. Other apps worth mentioning (that are FREE) are:

Clear Sky Droid (Android)
iCSC: Clear Sky Chart (iOS)

For more information on how you can have the best viewing experience possible, click here. I will be viewing the Total Solar Eclipse using the Eclipse Safari app. As someone who is a science and astronomy geek, I have been stoked about this for weeks. This is a once-in-a-lifetime event, folks. Don't miss it!

If you're wondering how much totality you can expect on Monday, check out the map below:

PS- Keep an eye on your pets during this phenomenon. The event may disrupt their routine just a bit.
