Once again, Raven-Symone finds herself in hot water over something she has said. Raven-Symone said on "The View" that she sides with the police officer that pushed a young student to the ground and proceeded to drag her across the floor. The reason the officer did this is because the student was on their cell phone while in class. When the student did not acknowledge the police officer, he flipped her desk over and assaulted her. Video of the assault went viral and is one of the most discussed videos of the month.
Raven-Symone said that while the assault may have been ridiculous, the student shouldn't have been on the phone. Raven is quoted as saying: "You gotta follow the rules in school."

Up-and -coming rapper Angel Haze was appalled by Raven's support for the police officer, and issued the following statement:

"I guess yesterday I went on a Twitter rant, and I asked Raven-Symone to fight me--which, by the way, I totally mean. Someone needs to smack her because the things that she says are just ridiculous. I read so much about this girl. She's dealing with the loss of her mother. You obviously de-socialize yourself lose someone so close to you, the officer's been accused of so many things. How can you even dare side with something like that? It's difficult to live in a nation where black people are dehumanized and made to be lesser by birth -- by default. It's horrible and it's horrifying."

Currently, Raven-Symone maintains her stance on the subject. The deputy that assaulted the young student was fired from his job. This wasn't his first offense. In 2007, he landed in hot water for assault.

My Two Cents:

I already have an opinion about kids with cell phones. I don't like it. How I feel, though, doesn't change what is already going on in society. Cell phones are a way of life. However, schools do have protocols in place when it comes to cell phones. A lot of students do not follow the rules.

In reference to this particular story, I did read up on the young student, and Angel Haze is right about the young girl dealing with losing her mother. While that shouldn't be her 'get out of jail free' card, she should have NEVER been assaulted (she should have gotten a detention. There should have been no need for police to be present). What the officer did was disgusting and horrific. That young child was going through a lot. The officer and school system better hope that she doesn't end up with PTSD.

As far as Raven-Symone is concerned, I give up. I cannot figure that young woman out. Everything she says is just shocking.
