Can 'Nashville' survive without Connie Britton?
If you tuned into this week's episode of 'Nashville,' you were more than likely ugly-crying by the end of the show (I was ugly-crying for a half hour after watching the episode lol). We watched as loved ones visited Rayna James in the hospital after her car accident (yes, another Rayna car accident).
At first, it looked like she was going to pull through. Then she suffered a complication from her injuries. Her organs failed and she was rushed to ICU. During the last few minutes of the show, we watched Maddie, Daphne, and Deacon sing a song to Rayna. Rayna opened her eyes and looked at her family. Seconds later, she died. The show ended with her girls and Deacon sobbing uncontrollably on her body.
The death of Rayna James was a tragic shock for viewers and many lashed out at the show via social media. Connie Britton wrote a beautiful note to her fans and she posted a tribute to her character, Rayna James.
Her castmates also posted their love for both Connie Britton and Rayna James.
So, what's next for 'Nashville?' Can the show survive without Rayna James?
That's the question many people have. While the show has a great cast of characters, without its leading lady, can the show go on another season?
In my eyes, 'Nashville' is a miracle show. When it was canceled by ABC last year, it looked like the show could not be salvaged. Then CMT walked in and resurrected 'Nashville.' Even though Rayna James is gone, I think the show could survive another season. More stories have yet to be told, and I really want to see if Juliette Barnes makes her gospel record (btw, she has come such a long way since season one. I love watching her grow and become the woman she was meant to be).
'Nashville' holds a special place in my heart because I started watching it while recuperating from spinal surgery. It made my heart happy and I fell back in love with country music.
I actually plan on binge-watching the show while recuperating from my second surgery next month. :-)
RIP Rayna James.</3
PS-If you are wondering what Connie Britton is doing next, I read that she is being brought onto a new show on Netflix (it is unknown if she will be singing on the show. I hope she will be. I love her voice).
PPS- Just want to leave this here to honor one of my all-time favorite TV couples:
